Goodbye from Velvetstorm Media!
We are sad to announce that after 6 years, Velvetstorm Media is closing its doors.
For those of you who might not know, it began in 2007 as a hobby music blog which the small team in Zürich, Switzerland, ran in their spare time, beside a regular full-timejob. Velvetstorm Media grew and grew and grew, finally growing into a music company supporting independent/alternative musicians on all sorts of levels - from writing reviews of live performances, to booking gigs, promoting album releases, communicating with artists and industry people on and off the social media, even setting up a street-team for a band… and of course, much more work behind-the-scenes! The open promotion was then documented on two websites, in English and German.
A small number of local and international artists were featured on our regular programme, but as Velvetstorm Media kept growing, so did the demand for promotion from external artists who needed a helping hand… a growing task that we took on with the utmost of enthusiasm, but which became extremely difficult to continue at this level with so few resources and so little spare time left on our hands. We tried to expand the team but didn't find the right people who shared our philosophy, so rather than drop the level of support to our artists and audiences alike, we decided it would be much more fair to everyone if we called it a day.
We wholeheartedly thank all the people who were involved with Velvetstorm Media from the very beginning to the very end, especially Adrian Sieber, Alien Skin, Choo Choo, Electronical Suicide, Lovebugs, Matto Rules, Sam Shinazzi, The Rambling Wheels - as well as any other artists we have ever worked with. Big thanks to all the industry people in Switzerland and overseas, all the venues that we had the pleasure of doing business with, as well as all of our loyal followers on Twitter and Facebook. We wish you all the best for the future and hope you will continue to support independent artists all around the world by helping to spread the word about them and - just as important - buying their music so that they can continue to make more music for you to enjoy!
Those were 6 fabulous years - thank you all !
